Shekhar Suman on Rekha: Well-known Bollywood actor and TV host Shekhar Suman has talked about his experiences of working with veteran actress Rekha. Decades ago, Shekhar Suman’s pairing with Rekha was seen on the big screen. The actor has recently shared memories related to the film.

Romanced with Rekha in the very first film
Shekhar Suman got the opportunity to work with a veteran actress like Rekha in his first film itself. He said that I will always be grateful to Rekha. The actor also revealed in an interview to Siddharth Kannan that he got the film within 15 days of coming to Mumbai.
Shekhar Suman said, “A newcomer never gets such a break. As soon as I came to Mumbai, I got a film within 15 days. I had not even unpacked my suitcase and within two months I was on the set, shooting with Rekha. I will remain grateful to Rekha ji, Girish Karnad and Shashi Kapoor till my last breath.”
About Rekha, Shekhar said, “I have never met a more professional actor than her. I remember on the first day of shooting, there was an income tax raid at her house. Any other actor would have packed his bags and run home at such a time. Rekha said, ‘Let them do their work, I will stay here and do my work.’ I was scared that my world was destroyed, she would leave and the film would be cancelled, my dreams would be shattered.”
Praising Rekha, the actor further said that Rekha never stopped me from touching myself as per the demand of the scene during the shooting. He said, “Unlike other actresses, Rekha never stopped me from touching myself at certain places in those scenes. She was completely professional. I will always be grateful to her.”
Shekhar-Rekha were seen in 1984’s ‘Utsav’
The film ‘Utsav’ which was released in 1984 is Shekhar’s first film. At that time Rekha was earning a lot of name in Bollywood. However, the way Rekha appeared in this film was surprising for many fans. She had a lot of romance with Shekhar Suman in the film. Many scenes of the film were also objectionable.
Almost 40 years of the release of the celebration
Apart from Rekha and Shekhar Suman, veteran actors like Neena Gupta, Amjad Khan, Anupam Kher and Shashi Kapoor also worked in this film. This film, which was released on 23rd August 1984, is soon going to complete its 40 years.
